It would've played less like a rehash of the time Cisco met Black Canary if they'd met Ryan before and didn't immediately trust her. The exchange with Chester and Allegra is classic cornball comics storytelling. Just like with Khione, Team Flash could've told Ryan to sit out the fight and get better.Īnother silly comics staple in the episode is the scene where a member of Team Flash is awestruck by the cooler superhero. Then viewers could've gotten a moment where the rest of Team Flash doesn't trust her because she looks just like the baddie going full "Doctor Evil" in Central City. When the team rescued Marc, they could have also found a still-alive Ryan. Showing up at the last moment to save the day is a classic comics move. When the storytellers wanted audiences to think Red Death was a future Earth-Prime Ryan, the real Batwoman was missing. Leaning into DC's campy heritage helped soften those problems, but Earth-Prime Ryan needed more screentime. If Wallace had his way, there'd be many more episodes. Showrunner Eric Wallace spoke about how his plans for a Blackest Night storyline and a spectacular 200th episode in Season 10 were dashed by the cancelation and shortened season order. Discovery and The CW wanted to cut costs. Arrowverse fans should feel lucky that The Flash is getting a final season at all, given how sharply the new respective owners of Warner Bros. ![]()
